The big action set-pieces are just as exciting as before and the shooting is still fantastic, which is a big achievement when you think how long ago Modern Warfare 2 actually came out. Thankfully, Modern Warfare 2’s campaign is mostly as great as we all remembered. It’s not a big change but it’s cool nonetheless. One really cool addition I particularly loved is that you can now examine your weapons by pressing on the D-pad. It would have been cool to make some changes based on more recent titles, but that feels like a bit much for just a remaster. Overall, the Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Campaign is a brilliantly modernised and nostalgia-feeding juxtaposition, and for those passionate Call of Duty fans, the remastered version is a no-brainer. It is quite spectacular watching that throwing knife hurtle its way towards Captain Shepherd in much higher resolution. The gameplay is rather similar with a rustic feel to game movement meaning the graphics are the main difference. Graphics aren’t the real deal for everyone, but there is no denying that Activision has done a great job in transforming the MW2 campaign into a modern rendition with incredible detail into the surroundings and general warfare visuals. The game has gone through a complete remaster, and with a few extra seconds in some of the most iconic scenes, the graphics are much better. The difference from the original to the remastered version is rather remarkable. If you were to purchase any Call of Duty for the campaign alone, MW2 would be your go-to. It offers a range of stealth missions and full-blown action sequences, plus the most satisfying endings to any campaign that you could find. From monstrous betrayal to political controversy to engaging brotherhood, the storyline is beautifully crafted. Featuring your favourite characters and protagonists such as Captain Price, Simon “Ghost” Riley, and the rest of Task Force 141, and incredible antagonists and villains like Vladimir Makarov, MW2 boasted an incredible storyline. For double the price, you can get games with storylines that can keep you entertained for months on end, like Skyrim from the Elder Scrolls series, or Red Dead Redemption albeit with a free roam element being incorporated into both of those. ![]() Taking the nostalgia away from the debate for a moment, a campaign that can be completed within one to three days, may not justify being worth £20. Depending on difficulty, you may find it running for closer to six hours, and if you choose to dive in and complete all the achievements and gather all intel, it may take around eight hours.
